Smith's 6" DualGrit Medium Diamond Stone is a double-sided bench sharpening stone built for close honing and precise edge work on knives and other edged tools. Each face carries a layer of micron-sized monocrystalline diamond bonded in nickel to a flat metal plate, giving a genuinely flat, long-wearing sharpening surface rather than a natural stone that wears unevenly. The medium-grade stone pairs a 325-grit coarse face for faster stock removal with a 750-grit face for finer honing, so one stone covers both re-profiling and touch-up sharpening. The diamond coating is deliberately interrupted rather than solid, which speeds up sharpening and helps clear swarf as you work. The stone measures 6 x 1.75in and sits in a plastic base with a protective lid; during use, that lid clips into the bottom of the base to raise the working height, letting your fingers grip lower down and further from the blade's cutting edge for safer sharpening.
