Three different things share this page, and they are not substitutes for each other. Worth knowing which one you are looking at before you order.
Base layers for the hill
Härkila Base long johns — the All Season side-zip and the Mesh — and Deerhunter's Lady Hunting Tights are next-to-skin layers for stalking and sitting still in the cold. The side zip matters more than it sounds: it lets you get them on and off over boots without stripping down in a lay-by. Mesh construction moves moisture away on the walk in, which is what stops you chilling once you stop and settle.
Buckthorn Duro Treggings sit between a base layer and a trouser — close-fitting, tougher than a legging, for beating and rough ground.
Wax over-leggings
Bisley's lined wax leggings stud up the outside of the leg, so they go on and off over boots. This is the traditional answer to a wet day standing on a peg or working a hedge: you pull them on when the weather turns and take them off at the vehicle, and they keep the worst of the wet and thorn off your legs. Not a technical waterproof — for that see waterproof trousers.
Activewear
Skechers and Castore leggings in the collection are gym and walking wear — GOWALK, GO FLEX, GO SCULPT and Tempo. Comfortable, not field kit. If you are buying for the hill, buy from the first two sections.
