The Sitka Core Merino 330 Zip-Off Bottom is the heaviest-weight base layer in Sitka's Core Merino range, built for late-season stalking and hunting in the coldest conditions. The 330-gram, 17.5-micron ArmorSpun merino wool exterior is reinforced for extra durability over standard merino, and merino's natural odour resistance keeps it fresh on extended trips in the hills. A recycled synthetic interior lining wicks sweat away from the skin quickly, which matters more than warmth alone once you're moving hard in cold, damp conditions, while low-profile flatlock stitching sits comfortably next to skin under further layers. The standout feature is the full-length side zips: unlike a conventional base layer, this bottom can be removed without taking off your boots, so it comes off fast when temperatures rise mid-stalk or on the walk back to the vehicle. Colour-coded waistband tabs make it easy to line the zips up correctly. The three-quarter-length cut sits above the boot top to avoid bunching, and despite the technical fabric it's machine washable rather than needing specialist care.
