- Visual powder-charge checker for progressive press reloading — catches squibs and double charges
- Probe stem rises to display white O-ring: no movement = no powder, slight rise = correct charge, high rise = double charge
- Reversible probe stem — thicker end for large cases, thinner end for small; plastic finger-guide included for .22 cal cases
- Compatible with .22 calibre and larger cartridges
- Fits any progressive or turret press with standard 7/8–14 thread
- Works with all powder types — no adjustments required when changing powders
- Hornady uses the same principle on their own commercial ammunition manufacturing presses
The Hornady Powder Cop is a reloading die that installs on your progressive press immediately after the powder drop station to give you a visual check of every powder charge as it is dropped. Managing powder charges on a progressive press is notoriously tricky — it is easy to miss a squib or a dangerous double charge in the rhythm of high-volume reloading. The Powder Cop solves this with a simple, reliable probe mechanism: a reversible stem drops into each case and rises to display a white rubber O-ring at the top of the die body. No movement means no powder; a slight rise indicates a correct charge; a much higher rise flags a double charge. The stem is reversible — the thicker end suits larger cases, while a plastic finger-guide centres it into .22 calibre cases. It fits any press using standard 7/8–14 thread and works with all powder types. Hornady uses a comparable device on their own commercial ammunition manufacturing presses — a straightforward endorsement of its value in any reloading set-up.
