The Barnes Banded Solid is a non-expanding, flat-nose bullet for reloaders working in .416 calibre, supplied 50 to the box at 350 grains. Machined from a homogeneous copper-alloy slug, it is built specifically not to expand: on impact it tracks in a straight line through muscle and heavy bone without deforming, deflecting or losing weight, giving the deep, predictable penetration needed for a frontal or raking shot on the largest dangerous game. Multiple driving bands are cut into the bullet's shank, reducing its bearing surface against the bore; this relieves chamber pressure, cuts bore friction and virtually eliminates fouling while keeping the bullet stable in flight. Because Barnes weight-matches its Banded Solids to the TSX expanding bullet in the same calibre, a .416 reloader can load Banded Solids and TSX bullets to the same point of impact, switching between an expanding hunting load and a solid for dangerous game without re-zeroing. This is a specialist, non-expanding bullet for professional hunters, dangerous-game rifles and backup loads where straight-line penetration through bone matters more than expansion — not a general-purpose hunting bullet.
