The Barnes TSX (Triple-Shock X) is a homogeneous, 100% copper hollow-point bullet built for reloaders working in .338 calibre, supplied 50 to the box at 225 grains. Machined from a solid copper slug rather than the usual lead core and jacket, the TSX has no components to separate on impact, so it retains close to 100% of its weight for consistently deep penetration. A nose cavity opens on contact and peels back into four sharp-edged copper petals, giving reliable, controlled expansion to roughly double calibre diameter across a wide range of impact velocities. Multiple precision-cut grooves ring the bullet shank, reducing bearing surface against the bore; this cuts chamber pressure and copper fouling while allowing higher velocities from the same load. The reduced bore friction also contributes to the TSX's reputation for excellent accuracy from a handloaded round. Being lead-free, it is legal for use where lead ammunition is restricted.
