The Hornady InterLock Soft Point 180gr .308 is a component projectile for handloaders building stalking and hunting loads in 30 calibre cartridges such as 308 Winchester, 30-06 Springfield and the 300-series magnums. The defining feature is Hornady's InterLock ring — a raised band inside the gilding-metal jacket that is embedded in the lead core, locking the two together during expansion to retain mass and prevent core-jacket separation. The jacket tapers in thickness from base to tip, controlling expansion across a wide velocity range so the bullet performs reliably whether fired at close range or from a longer stalk. Inner grooves in the upper jacket section ensure consistent, progressive expansion even at extended distances. The one-piece lead core avoids the inconsistencies of divided-core designs. A cannelure provides a firm crimp point and works with the InterLock ring to keep core and jacket bonded. The secant ogive delivers a ballistically efficient profile with a long bearing surface for stability and accuracy. Sold as component bullets for reloading — no firearms certificate is required to purchase. Typical pack size is 100 bullets.
