The Hornady .312" 85 grain XTP® (eXtreme Terminal Performance) is a component pistol bullet designed for handloaders working with .32 ACP, .32 S&W Long and similar .312" bore handgun cartridges. The XTP is built around a drawn gilding-metal jacket whose thickness varies along the length of the bullet, giving controlled expansion across the wide range of velocities typical of pistol loads — from modest revolver charges to higher-pressure semi-automatic rounds. Precise serrations divide the bullet into symmetrical sections that initiate reliable expansion even at lower velocities, without the jacket separating from the swaged lead core. A hollow nose cavity protected by the gilding-metal jacket ensures the bullet functions correctly on impact and feeds reliably in semi-automatics. On revolver bullets, the cannelure allows accurate, consistent crimping. At 85 grains, this is a light, quick-expanding option well suited to small-calibre defensive and hunting loads in .32-bore pistols. Sold as component bullets for reloading — no FAC required in the UK.
