The Hornady Case Activated Powder Drop (item #050073) is a progressive press powder measure designed with quick change-overs in mind. Its defining feature is a case-sensing mechanism that only releases a powder charge when a cartridge case is present in the shell plate, eliminating the risk of double charges or spilled powder during the reloading cycle. Designed specifically for the Lock-N-Load AP progressive press, it threads into any progressive press using the standard 7/8"–14 thread — the same fitting used by most turret and progressive presses on the market. It is not compatible with black-powder measures. The unit works alongside Hornady's Powder Through Expanders (PTX), which can be fitted to the drop to expand the case mouth and drop powder in a single station, freeing up additional press stations for a taper crimp die or Powder Cop. A Quick Change Powder Die (#050074) is available separately to speed up calibre changes on the Lock-N-Load AP. The PTX Powder Measure Stop comes included with new AP presses and the CAPD, allowing fine adjustment of case mouth flare.
