This Vortex Sport Cantilever Mount is built to carry a 1-inch tube riflescope on a flattop AR-15 or any rifle with a Picatinny rail. The 3-inch forward offset moves the whole optic ahead of the receiver, opening up the correct eye relief and a natural head position on the stock rather than forcing you to crane forward. It is machined from aluminium for a strong, lightweight one-piece unit that clamps to the rail with four hex screws down the left side, so there is no separate base and ring assembly to align. Recommended torque is 20 in/lbs on the base clamp screws and 18 in/lbs on the ring screws, giving a solid, repeatable zero once fitted. At a centre scope height of 1.59 inches (40.39mm) it sits scopes at a workable height over most AR-pattern uppers, and at 6.7oz it adds very little weight to the rifle. A straightforward, no-nonsense mount for anyone setting up a 1-inch scope on a modern sporting rifle.
