Smith's 4" Natural Arkansas Sharpening Stone is a compact medium-grade novaculite stone built for taking on the road, in a tackle bag or a stalking rucksack, rather than staying on the bench. Like all natural Arkansas stones it sharpens and polishes the edge in the same pass, something no synthetic stone can match. At 4" x 1" x 3/8" it's small enough to slip into a pocket, and it comes with a fabric storage pouch that has a fold-over flap and belt loop, so it can be carried securely and kept clean of grit and moisture between uses. It handles pocket knives, hunting and fishing knives, and kitchen knives equally well, whether the blade is single or double-bevelled. As with any Arkansas stone, a few drops of honing oil keep the pores clear and the stone cutting efficiently, and a scrub with warm soapy water after use will keep it in good condition for years.
