Smith's 6" x 2.5" Diamond Bench Stone - Fine is the honing partner to Smith's Coarse diamond bench stone, built for putting a genuinely sharp finish on an edge rather than reshaping it. The diamond plate is rated Fine at 750 grit and marked orange, with multiple layers of micron-sized monocrystalline diamonds bonded in nickel to a flat metal surface for a consistent, long-lasting cutting action. As with the Coarse stone, the plate's overlapping oval-hole pattern collects and holds the metal filings that build up during sharpening, so the surface stays clean and keeps performing rather than clogging and skating. It sits in the same moulded plastic base with non-slip rubber feet, with a clear plastic lid to protect the diamond surface between uses and a built-in micro-tool sharpening pad for small blades and points. Best run after the Coarse stone to finish an edge, or used on its own for routine touch-ups, on woodworking tools, sport and utility knives, and kitchen knives that just need a smooth, keen edge put back on.
