The ThermTec Ares 360 is a dual-field-of-view thermal riflescope built into a classic scope tube, aimed at deer stalkers, foxers and pest controllers who need to scan wide ground and then commit to a precise shot without changing optics. A 384x288, 12µm sensor with NETD under 35mK feeds a bright 0.39in AMOLED display at 1024x768 resolution, giving a clear, well-contrasted thermal picture even in rain, fog or heat haze. Its 20mm/60mm F1.0 germanium dual lens switches with a simple twist of the objective ring: the 20mm side gives a wide 13.1x9.8 degree field of view at 1.8x magnification for picking up movement across a field, while the 60mm side narrows to 4.4x3.3 degrees at 5.5x for identifying and holding on a target further out, with a continuous 1-5x digital zoom on top of either lens. A built-in AI rangefinder estimates target distance automatically, and the scope records photo and video to onboard storage and can stream to a phone over Wi-Fi or hotspot. Power comes from a removable 18650/18500 battery good for around 6 hours' continuous use, charged via USB-C with reverse-polarity protection. The hard-anodised aluminium housing is IP67-rated and recoil-tested, built to live on a rifle in UK field conditions.
