The Web-Tex Steel-of-Fire Starter Kit is a compact, matchless fire-lighting set for anyone who spends time out in the field, whether you are camping after a day's stalking, setting up a wild camp or simply want a dependable backup for cold, wet conditions. It works on the tried-and-tested ferrocerium principle: scrape the striker down the fire steel and you throw a shower of hot sparks onto the cotton wool tinder, which catches quickly and gives you a flame to build from. Because there is nothing to run out of fuel or get damp like matches, it stays reliable trip after trip. The kit packs into a 9 x 6cm olive green Web-Tex tin that slips easily into a jacket pocket, rucksack lid or vehicle kit, and the muted colour suits a field-sports setting. Everything you need to get a fire going is held together in one tin, with the cotton wool kept in a waterproof bag so your tinder stays dry until you need it. A sensible, no-nonsense addition to any stalker's or camper's kit.
