These are Hornady V-MAX bullet heads, a reloading component for handloaders building .17 calibre varmint rounds such as the .17 Hornet and .17 WSM. Each projectile measures .172" in diameter and weighs 20 grains, with a sharp polymer tip seated over a hollow cavity and a swaged lead core inside a match-grade AMP jacket. That construction gives the V-MAX its reputation for fast, dramatic expansion and fragmentation, even at the lower velocities reached further down range, while the streamlined flat-base profile and pointed tip keep trajectories flat and flight stable. For foxing and other varmint work, that means decisive terminal performance with minimal pass-through. These are component bullets only, not loaded ammunition or primed cases, so you supply your own powder, primers and brass and load to published data for your cartridge and rifle. Supplied in a box of 100. The .17 calibres reward careful, concentric handloading, and the consistency of the AMP jacket helps wring tight groups from a well set-up rifle. A firearms certificate covering the relevant calibre is required to purchase.
