The Hornady InterLock® RN (Round Nose) is a traditional lead-core hunting bullet designed for handloaders building .30 calibre rounds for lever-action and other rifles that suit a round-nose profile — particularly those using tube magazines where a pointed tip would create a safety hazard. At 150 grains in .308" diameter, it suits cartridges such as .30-30 Winchester and similar lever-gun rounds. The design centres on Hornady's InterLock® system: a raised ring inside the gilding-metal jacket that is embedded in the lead core, mechanically locking the two together during expansion. This prevents core-jacket separation and supports deep penetration with good weight retention. Strategically placed inner grooves weaken the upper jacket to promote consistent, controlled expansion across a range of impact velocities, while the tapered jacket ensures reliable opening whether shots land close or at distance. A cannelure provides a positive crimp point for reloaders and works alongside the InterLock ring to maintain structural integrity. These are component bullets for handloading — sold individually as reloading components, not as loaded ammunition.
