The Leofoto BV-15 is a mid-sized fluid head with drag control on both pan and tilt, giving the smooth, steady movement needed for birding, wildlife video and following subjects with a long lens or spotting scope. It pans 360 degrees with indexed markings and tilts from plus 90 to minus 75 degrees, with individual pan and tilt locks. The indexed camera platform makes rebalancing quick, and a counterbalance range of 0 to 3kg helps a front-heavy set-up stay where you leave it. Two bubble levels confirm the head is level. The screw-knob clamp takes the supplied 100mm Arca-Swiss style plate, which has both 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch mounting threads and anti-twist pads to avoid metal-on-metal contact. The included pan handle mounts on either side of the head. Underneath, a 70mm flat base with a 3/8 inch thread fits compatible tripods and supports. With a 10kg maximum load and a weight of around 1.3kg, the BV-15 is a step up from the compact BV-10 for wildlife watchers and photographers using heavier cameras, telephoto lenses or larger spotting scopes on a sturdy tripod.
