The Leofoto GC-282C is a two-section add-on centre column that adds working height to a tripod or monopod without changing your head. Both sections are 10-layer carbon fibre tubes fitted with the same rubber-grip twist locks and anodised aluminium hardware used on Leofoto tripods, and a geared crank handle gives fine, controlled vertical adjustment rather than a sudden slide. The base has a 3/8"-16 threaded socket, while the top carries a spring-loaded 3/8"-16 stud that slides down to reveal a 1/4"-20 stud, so it will take most heads. Extended it reaches 325mm, it folds to 215mm, weighs 300g and is rated to 20kg. For stalkers and wildlife watchers glassing from a tripod with a spotting scope or binoculars, it is a straightforward way to gain extra eye height over bracken or a dyke, or to set the scope at a comfortable height for sitting or standing, without carrying a taller tripod.
