The Leofoto Manba LV-284C with BV-5 is a lightweight video-style kit that works just as well for glassing as it does for filming. The four-section carbon fibre tripod has a built-in hollow ball at the top, so the centre column can be angled like a ball head, and combined with independent leg spread this lets you level the fluid head in seconds on rough or sloping ground. Flip leg locks make it quick to set up, and the removable, reversible centre column plus included short column allow low-angle work. The legs are 10-layer Toray carbon fibre (28/25/22/19mm) with 6061-T6 aluminium parts, three leg stops (23, 55 and 85 degrees), a ballast hook and 3/8in and 1/4in accessory sockets. The kit reaches 1580mm with the column up or 1318mm with it down, goes as low as 175mm, folds to 560mm and weighs 2kg. The BV-5 mini fluid head has a 50mm flat base, an Arca-Swiss style sliding plate, bubble level and a reversible pan handle, and is rated to 4kg, ideal for a spotting scope, binoculars adapter or a compact camera for smooth panning.
