The Leofoto PG-1 is a lightweight gimbal head made from 6061 aluminium, designed to carry large, heavy telephoto lenses that would be tiring or impossible to hold by hand for long. The lens is balanced around its centre of gravity, so the swing arm moves back and forth freely and a big lens can be aimed with a fingertip, then locked at the required angle. The Arca-type camera platform is height adjustable to help you balance the lens properly, and a printed scale on the swing arm makes it easy to repeat your set-up next time. Two 1/4 inch sockets on the side of the arm accept accessories. The base rotates a full 360 degrees, and a bubble level at the base helps keep the horizon straight while you pan. With a maximum load of 25kg against a weight of around 1kg, the PG-1 is well suited to wildlife and bird photographers using long primes and big zooms from a tripod, whether tracking birds in flight, deer on a hillside or action at a shooting ground. It stands 225mm tall, with a 60mm panning base and 3/8 inch mounting thread.
