The Leofoto Ranger LS-224C is a light, compact four-section carbon fibre tripod supplied with the LH-25 low-profile ball head and a separate centre column. Out of the box it is a no-column design: the head sits directly on the apex, which keeps the set-up stiff and lets the legs splay right out at three angle stops for very low work. When you need extra height, the separate centre column can be fitted. The legs are 10-layer carbon fibre (22/19/16/13mm) with CNC-machined, hard-anodised 6061 aluminium parts, quarter-turn twist locks, a removable ballast hook and a 1/4in accessory socket on the apex. With the LH-25 fitted and without the column, the UK distributor lists a working height of 125mm to 1165mm and a 6kg maximum load. The LH-25 has a 25mm ball, a screw-knob Arca-Swiss style clamp and QR plate, and is rated to 6kg. It is a good match for a mirrorless camera, binoculars on an adapter or a compact spotting scope, and its small packed size makes it an easy one to carry on the hill.
