The Switchback Carbon Tripod Head Adapter lets you fit a different head to the Vortex Switchback Carbon Tripod. Vortex supplies the Switchback Carbon with its own lockable ball head, which suits most glassing and shooting set-ups, but some users prefer to run a pan head, a gimbal, a geared head or a rifle cradle they already own. This adapter goes between the tripod and the new head and accepts heads with either a 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 mounting thread, the two standard tripod thread sizes, so most aftermarket and photography heads can be used. That makes it useful for stalkers and wildlife watchers who glass for long periods with a large binocular or spotting scope, and for target and long-range shooters who want a specific rifle support on top of the carbon legs. It is a small, practical part that lets one carbon tripod do more jobs, switching between the supplied ball head and your preferred alternative as the day demands. Please note this adapter is intended for the Switchback Carbon Tripod; check compatibility before using it with other tripods.
