This highly refined walnut oil is the long-established way to bring out the natural beauty in the grain of quality walnut woodwork, and it is favoured by stalkers and shooters who want to keep a working stock looking its best. Rubbed lightly into a clean, well-prepared stock, the oil is absorbed into the wood, where it seals the grain and dries to a hard, clear finish. The more coats you apply, the deeper and tougher the finish becomes, so it suits both reviving a tired old stock and maintaining a treasured one. A little goes a long way, and once a stock is finished it needs only an occasional top-up, particularly after a wet day in the field.
