Woolpower's Socks Protection 400 take the same Ullfrotte Original 400 terry-knit construction as their standard heavyweight sock and cross it with flame-resistant aramid fibre, so you get the warmth and moisture handling of merino in a sock certified for work around fire and electrical risk. Woolpower certify the Protection range to EN standards covering flame retardancy and antistatic performance. Wool is naturally flame resistant and, unlike synthetics, does not melt - which is what stops a sock fusing to the skin in a flash fire. The blend is 60% merino wool, 26% aramid, 12% polyamide and 2% elastane. The terry knit runs through both the foot and the shaft for insulation and cushioning, and there is extra elastic at the top and bottom of the shaft to stop it sliding down inside a boot. Warm enough to wear next to the skin or as a second layer. For full protection Woolpower recommend a complete certified base layer worn with certified outer garments. Machine washable at 60 degrees. Knitted and made up in Sweden.
