The Walther 2819899 Adjustable Palm Rest — known in 10m match shooting circles as a "hamster" — is a genuine Walther accessory built for the LG400 Alutec target air rifle, and it also fits most Anschutz/EURO/UIT-pattern forend rails. It bolts onto the underside of the fore-end via a universal metal rail fitting, securing firmly to the standard T-channel accessory rail found on this class of competition air rifle. In the standing position, a hamster gives the supporting hand a stable, elevated platform to rest the fore-end on rather than gripping it directly, which is the standard technique in 10m air rifle and field target shooting for reducing hold movement and pulse transfer into the barrel. This one is adjustable for both height and angle, so it can be set up to suit the shooter's own stance and hand position rather than forcing a fixed geometry. It is a purpose-made competition accessory, not a bipod or shooting stick, and has no connection to the household pet of a similar name.
