- Boat-tail design gives a high G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.667 and sectional density of 0.350 for flat, consistent long-range trajectories
- Accu-Groove rings relieve pressure and cut copper fouling for sustained accuracy
- High weight retention drives deep penetration on dense, thick-skinned game
Barnes LRX .338 Lapua Magnum 280 grain bullets are component bullet heads for handloading — a box of 50 projectiles, not loaded ammunition. Machined from solid copper with no lead core, the LRX carries Barnes' polymer tip, which triggers fast, controlled expansion into four razor-sharp cutting petals on impact. That opens a wide wound channel while the all-copper construction retains the vast majority of the bullet's original weight, driving deep, reliable penetration even on dense, thick-skinned game. The long, boat-tailed profile gives the LRX a high ballistic coefficient (G1 0.667) and a sectional density of 0.350, keeping trajectories flat and retained energy high out to extended range — exactly what the design is aimed at. Barnes' Accu-Groove rings relieve bore pressure as the bullet travels down the barrel, cutting copper fouling and helping sustain accuracy load after load. For UK handloaders working up long-range .338 Lapua Magnum loads for large or tough-skinned quarry, this is a straightforward, well-proven lead-free option from a leading US bullet maker.
