- Brings Picatinny-mount night vision, thermal or day-scope options to an older action
The Tikka M55 may be an older action, but Britannia Rails still build a dedicated one-piece Picatinny rail for it, giving owners a solid, mil-spec base for mounting a scope, night vision or thermal unit via Picatinny/Weaver rings. Machined in the UK from 6061-T6 aluminium and finished with a hard-anodised coating for durability in the field, the rail is cut to true MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny spec so the mount locks on with no play once torqued down. This is the 0 MOA version, 149mm long, fitted using four 6-48 screws driven with the supplied T15 Hex bit. Britannia Rails also include a dose of Vibra-Tite anti-vibration threadlock in the pack, so the screws stay put under recoil without needing periodic re-torquing. Fitting a rail like this lets a night vision or thermal unit go on and come straight back off again, with the day scope going back on in its place, on a rifle that would otherwise have no Picatinny-mounting option at all. A well-made, no-fuss upgrade for anyone still shooting a Tikka M55.
