- Lead-free monolithic copper alloy bullet — successor to the Hornady GMX®
- .375" diameter, 250 gr — suits .375 H&H, .375 Ruger and .376 Steyr
- Heat Shield® polymer tip resists aerodynamic heating for consistent high BC in flight
- Routinely retains 95%+ of original weight; one-piece alloy body won't separate
- Optimum groove geometry reduces fouling and bearing surface
- DVRT™ flat-meplat design reduces drag variation for tighter groups at range
- Fully lead-free — compliant for non-lead zones and California regulations
The Hornady CX™ (Copper alloy eXpanding) represents the next generation of monolithic lead-free hunting bullet, superseding the GMX® line with a more advanced design. At .375" diameter and 250 grains, it is appropriate for handloaders building cartridges such as .375 H&H Magnum, .375 Ruger and .376 Steyr. The one-piece copper alloy body delivers 95% or more weight retention and deep, reliable penetration without core-jacket separation. A Heat Shield® polymer tip — made from a heat-resistant compound that resists aerodynamic heating during flight — maintains a consistently high ballistic coefficient from muzzle to target and produces precise meplat geometry for bullet-to-bullet consistency. Optimum groove geometry along the bearing surface reduces fouling and drag while maximising aerodynamic performance. Hornady's DVRT™ (Drag Variability Reduction Technology) flat-meplat tip design further reduces dispersion at extended ranges. Like the GMX, the CX is fully lead-free and compliant for use in areas restricting traditional lead-core projectiles. An excellent choice for plains game through to larger, tougher species where deep penetration and high weight retention are required.
