The Vortex Raptor 8.5x32 is a mid-size porro prism binocular aimed at easy, affordable daylight glassing rather than specialist low-light optics. The porro prism layout — objective lenses set wider than the eyepieces, giving the classic offset-barrel shape — provides a wide, three-dimensional field of view, helped here by the lower 8.5x magnification: 7.4° angular (390ft at 1000 yards), the widest field of view in the Raptor range. Fully multi-coated lenses keep the image bright and clear for the price, with a 3.8mm exit pupil and 14mm of eye relief. Interpupillary distance adjusts from 50-70mm, so one pair genuinely fits a range of users, from smaller hands to adults. The body is rubber-armoured, nitrogen-purged and rated waterproof, fogproof and shockproof, and Vortex backs it with an unlimited lifetime VIP warranty.
