The BIG CHEESE Small Animal Cage Trap is a heavy-duty, LIVE-CATCH cage for rats and similar-sized nuisance animals around the garden, yard or outbuildings. It comes fully assembled and ready to use, with a fast-action, spring-loaded door that's more reliable than the gravity-led doors on cheaper cages — step on the treadle and the door snaps shut, securing the animal without harming it. The body is galvanised mesh, so it resists rust and corrosion and stands up to repeated use both indoors and outdoors, and the solid top carries a protective hand plate plus a carrier handle for moving a caught animal away for release or dispatch. Because it catches live and uses no poison, chemicals or glue, it's a sound choice anywhere children, pets or non-target wildlife might come across a set trap. Bait the central treadle with a proprietary rat and mouse attractant or a sticky bait such as peanut butter, position the trap alongside a wall or other route rats are known to use, and check it regularly once set.
