Lyalvale Express's Supreme Sixteen is the company's answer to a proper high-performance load for the 16-bore, built using the same components proven in Express's award-winning 12-gauge Supreme cartridges. This is the light 25 gram (7/8oz) load, packed into a true 2½in (65mm) case sized for traditional English 16-bore guns rather than the longer 2¾in chambers common on modern guns. Number 6 lead shot sits over a fibre wad — no plastic — so it's suitable for ground where plastic wads are restricted, and the wad breaks down more readily in the field than a plastic equivalent. Vectan propellant is balanced carefully against the shot load and primer to give tight, consistent patterns at a muzzle velocity of around 1375 fps, while keeping recoil manageable through a lighter gun. The case is blue. It's a genuine game cartridge rather than a clay load, suited to walked-up and driven game shooting with a 16-bore rather than a heavier 12-gauge, and it's built to the same quality standard as the rest of the Express Supreme range.
