The FoxPro 4K9 is an open reed hand call for coyote and general predator hunting, built by FoxPro Inc. of Lewistown, Pennsylvania — one of the best-known names in predator calling equipment. Unlike a closed-reed call, the open reed design puts pitch, tone and volume control in the caller's hands, so a practised user can move between coyote vocalisations — barks, howls and interrogation calls — and prey distress sounds such as rabbit and rodent squeals within a single sequence. A raised ridge on the tone board stops the reed icing up and sticking in cold, damp conditions, and the redesigned soft, flexible bell gives a more comfortable, secure mouth seal for longer calling sessions. Compact and pocketable, the 4K9 needs no batteries and no set-up time, making it a reliable back-up to an electronic caller or a standalone tool for finishing predators that have hung up out of range.
