Hornady .224 50gr SP Spire Point Reloading Bullets x100
990816
These are Hornady .224" diameter 50 grain Spire Point reloading bullets, supplied as component projectiles for handloaders rather than as loaded ammunition. They belong to Hornady's traditional Varmint line, built around a lead core and a copper jacket on the original pattern set by Joyce Hornady, and they remain a popular choice for working up accurate loads in .22 centrefire cartridges such as the .223 Remington and .22-250. The flat-base spire point profile gives a flat trajectory and predictable, rapid expansion on smaller quarry, which makes the 50 grain weight well suited to fox and other varmint control as well as range and load-development work. With a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.214 and a sectional density of 0.142, the bullet holds its line well at the velocities a .22 centrefire produces. Each box holds 100 bullets, giving plenty of components for load testing and a season's shooting. As loose projectiles these bullets are not subject to the same certification as live ammunition, though you will of course need the relevant firearm and the appropriate powder, primers and cases to load them.
