The Hornady Lock-N-Load Anvil Base Kit is a reloading bench accessory for handloaders who take precise case and cartridge measurements. The anvil attaches to the opposite blade of your caliper and works alongside the Hornady Lock-N-Load Headspace Comparator and Bullet Comparator (both sold separately), giving case heads and bullets a large, level surface to rest against. That bigger contact area steadies the round, so readings of headspace and the bullet ogive are easier to take and more consistent than balancing a case on a caliper jaw alone. For stalkers and target shooters who load their own rifle ammunition, this kind of consistency matters: comparing fired brass against re-sized brass helps you set shoulder bump correctly, while measuring base-to-ogive length keeps seating depth uniform from round to round. The kit clips onto a set of calipers in seconds and is machined from aluminium and brass. It is supplied as the anvil base only, identified as Hornady item AB1; the comparator bodies, bushings and caliper are bought separately.
