Hornady Superformance Varmint is a factory centre-fire load built for fox and varmint shooting in .243 Winchester, pairing the 58gr polymer-tipped V-MAX bullet with Hornady's Superformance propellant. The Superformance powder lifts muzzle velocity by 100 to 200 feet per second over conventional loads without raising pressure or felt recoil, which means a flatter trajectory, more retained energy at range and less wind drift on longer shots across stubble and open ground. Hornady's 24-inch test barrel records a muzzle velocity of 3,925 fps and 1,984 ft/lb of energy, with the round still travelling at 3,052 fps at 200 yards. The thin-jacketed V-MAX bullet is designed for match accuracy and rapid, explosive fragmentation, making it well suited to foxing, crows and other quarry where flat shooting and decisive terminal effect matter. The load cycles reliably in all action types, including semi-autos. Supplied in a box of 20 rounds (Hornady item 8343). A firearm certificate is required to purchase rifle ammunition in the UK.
