These are Hornady CX component bullets for reloading, not loaded ammunition, supplied in a box of 50 for the .277in calibre that covers both the .270 Winchester and the newer 6.8 Western. Each 100-grain projectile is a single-piece monolithic copper alloy, which keeps it lead-free and legal where non-traditional bullets are required. CX stands for Copper alloy eXpanding, and the one-piece construction means the bullet will not separate on impact, holding on to 95% or more of its weight for deep, reliable penetration on medium and larger game. The polymer Heat Shield tip resists aerodynamic heating to keep the ballistic coefficient consistent across the bullet's flight, while optimised groove geometry trims bearing surface and fouling without giving up downrange performance. At .277in diameter and 100 grains, this is a lighter-for-calibre load that suits flatter-shooting setups and lead-free deer stalking. Hornady lists a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.262 and a sectional density of 0.186 for this projectile. Handloaders pair these with their own brass, primers and powder to work up an accurate, copper hunting load.
