These are Hornady CX (Copper alloy eXpanding) projectiles for reloading the .270 calibre, supplied as component bullets rather than loaded ammunition. Each is a .277in diameter, 130 grain monolithic copper-alloy bullet, so there is no lead core to come apart on impact: the one-piece construction holds together for deep, straight-line penetration and around 95% weight retention on game. A polymer Heat Shield tip resists the aerodynamic heating that can deform softer tips in flight, helping the bullet hold a consistent ballistic coefficient and a uniform meplat from shot to shot. Optimised groove geometry along the shank trims bearing surface and copper fouling while keeping the profile slick downrange. Being lead-free, the CX suits stalkers and hunters working in areas that restrict traditional lead projectiles, and it covers everything from medium to larger game in the .270 cartridges. As a reloading component it gives handloaders a controlled-expansion, non-lead option to work up their own loads. Sold in a box of 50, Hornady item 273704.
