This is a red Micarta handle blank from Knivegg, supplied in a rounded profile for knife makers building their own handles from scratch. Micarta is a phenolic-resin laminate built up from layers of fabric, giving a block that is dense, tough and highly resistant to moisture, temperature swings and general wear - qualities that also make it grippy in the hand, wet or dry, once shaped and finished. The block measures up to 93mm long, 30mm wide and 35mm deep, giving enough material to work a comfortable, hand-filling rounded grip for a full-tang or stick-tang fixed-blade knife. Unlike Knivegg's pre-drilled finger-grip handle, this rounded-profile block is supplied solid, so it can be shaped, drilled and fitted to suit the maker's own blade and design rather than a fixed grip pattern.
