Parker-Hale's one-piece .170 rifle cleaning rod is built for regular, careful maintenance of .17 and .177 calibre rifle barrels. The rod itself has a hardened and tempered steel core running its full 37in length (including the handle), finished with brass fittings and a tough acetate coating that keeps the steel away from the bore and crown, so repeated cleaning strokes don't wear or scratch the rifling. A ball-bearing handle lets the rod rotate freely as it's worked down the barrel, so the tip follows the twist of the rifling rather than fighting it, which is a real advantage over a fixed-handle rod when running a tight-fitting brush or mop. The tip carries a male UK 5/40" UNC thread, so it's ready to take a screw-on jag, bronze brush or wool mop from the matching Parker-Hale range. It comes supplied in a protective storage tube, which keeps the rod straight and clean between cleaning sessions.
