The Vortex Diamondback HD 8x32 trades a little magnification for a genuinely wide field of view — 8.1° angular, 426ft at 1000 yards — which makes it easy to pick up and follow moving deer or a dog working cover. It shares the same HD optical system as the rest of the Diamondback HD range, with fully multi-coated lenses and dielectric prism coatings for sharp, contrast-rich, colour-true images, and Vortex's phase-correction coating on the roof prisms sharpens resolution further. Eye relief is a generous 16mm, so it's comfortable for glasses wearers, and close focus reaches down to 5ft. The body is argon-purged and O-ring sealed for waterproof, fogproof performance in genuinely wet weather, with a shockproof rubber-armoured housing and ArmorTek scratch-resistant lens coating. At 15.9oz it's light enough for a day's carry on the hill, helped by the true open hinge construction that keeps bulk down. Eyecups twist up and down for use with or without glasses, and it's tripod-adaptable for static glassing. Supplied with a rainguard, tethered objective lens covers, neck strap, deluxe case and strap, and a lens cloth.
