Warren Cutlery 3/8in Skew Chisel Carving Blade
S146069
- Skew chisel — cutting edge set at an angle rather than square across the tool, so the point reaches into corners and undercuts a straight-edged chisel can't get into cleanly
- 3/8in cutting edge, 3.5in overall length
- Hand-forged, razor-sharp edge straight from the pack
- Angled edge lets you slice across the grain rather than push straight into it, useful on chamfers and other angled cuts
- Made in the USA
- A useful addition alongside a straight chisel in a general woodcarving kit
Warren Cutlery's skew chisel is a 3/8in woodcarving blade with its cutting edge set at an angle across the tool rather than square to it. That angled edge is the defining feature of any skew chisel: it brings the blade to a sharp point at one corner, letting you get into tight corners and undercuts that a square-edged chisel can't reach cleanly, and slice across the grain rather than push straight into it. That slicing action typically leaves a smoother finish on chamfers, angled cuts and other detail work than a straight chisel manages. At 3.5in long, it's hand-forged and razor-sharp straight out of the pack. Made in the USA, it's a straightforward, well-made addition to a woodcarver's kit — useful alongside a straight chisel wherever the work calls for a point rather than a flat edge. As with any edge tool, keep it clean, store it so the edge is protected, and strop or hone it regularly to keep it cutting cleanly.
