The ACME 259 is a mouth-blown crow call built for decoying corvids over a pattern or controlling them around crops and game cover. You work it by squeezing the body between your teeth as you blow: a steady breath gives the long, rasping caw of an old crow, while biting a little harder lifts the pitch into the cry of a young crow that older birds find hard to ignore. Hand movements over the open end let you shape and break up each call so it carries naturally across a field. The same tone also passes well for rooks, making it a useful all-round corvid call for the shooter sat over decoys or waiting in a hide. It is made from moulded black plastic and is compact enough to keep on a lanyard or in a pocket alongside your other kit. ACME calls are made by J.
