The Illinois River Red Deer Stag call is a reed-based mouth call developed specifically for calling red deer stags during the rut, filling a long-standing gap in the UK market for a dependable stag call. It was developed through a collaboration between BushWear and an experienced American call maker, working with UK deerstalkers to tune the call to the deep, roaring sound of a rutting red stag rather than adapting a call built for other species. Reed-based mouth calls like this rely on breath control and technique rather than batteries or electronics, giving the stalker a natural, responsive way to reproduce a stag's roar in the field during the rut. Compact enough to carry in a jacket pocket, it's built for stalkers who want a genuine calling option to bring a stag in during the breeding season rather than relying on stalking alone.
