Phillips Professional Cold Blue is a liquid gun-bluing solution supplied in a 250ml bottle, formulated for touching up scratches, chips and worn patches on gun steel without the need for hot-tank bluing equipment. It works well in cold conditions, making it a practical choice for the amateur gunsmith re-blueing trigger guards, top levers or complete barrels at home. The solution can be wiped on with a soft cloth after degreasing the metal, or diluted with water and used by full immersion, brushing the surface with short strokes as the colour develops through bronze to a deep blue-black over a few minutes. Once the finish is achieved, the treated area should be rinsed and oiled well with gun oil to protect and seal the new bluing.
