Bisley's Swivel Slip Lead in green is a traditional rope slip lead built for dogs who fight or spin against the lead. It's made from 8mm x 1.5m braided deluxe rope, with a swivel spliced into the construction so the lead runs free instead of twisting up around a turning, spinning or excitable dog - a common annoyance with plain slip leads on lively gun dogs. As a slip lead it has no collar, buckle or clip: the loop goes straight over the dog's head and tightens as needed, so it's quick to fit and just as quick to slip off again, which makes it a handy choice for the kennel, the vehicle, the training field or the peg. The braided rope construction gives a lead that's comfortable to hold and control a dog on, while the swivel keeps handling smooth even when a dog is working hard or changing direction. It's a straightforward, no-frills bit of kit rather than a technical training aid, and the kind of thing most gun dog owners end up keeping a spare of. Supplied by BushWear, the UK field-sports specialist, from Bisley's current gun dog accessories range.
