Bore Tech Shield XP is a rust and corrosion preventative for firearms, supplied here as a 4oz pump spray rather than an aerosol. It is designed to penetrate deep into the metal's pores, displace moisture and neutralise corrosive residues before sealing the surface with a semi-dry film. Bore Tech state it will not gum up, will not affect accuracy and will not attract sand, dust or dirt, making it suitable for both long-term storage protection and use in the field between outings. It is safe across all metal types and leaves an invisible barrier rather than a visible oily coating, so guns can be handled and stored without an obvious film left on the hands or the case lining. To apply, hold the bottle around 8 inches from the surface and pump an even coat over the metal, or spray it onto a cloth and wipe the metal down by hand. This makes Shield XP a straightforward way to protect barrels, actions and metalwork from rust between cleans, particularly useful for guns kept in a damp gun cabinet or used through a wet stalking or wildfowling season.
