The Gerber Flatiron FE puts a cleaver-style blade into a folding clip knife, giving you a broad, stable cutting edge with the strength of a cleaver in a pocketable package. The fine plain edge measures 3.6 in (9.1 cm) and is ground from 7Cr17MoV stainless steel, a hard-wearing blade steel that takes a keen edge and shrugs off damp British conditions. The reverse curve of the spine keeps your knuckles clear of the cutting surface so you can slice and chop on a board with proper control, while a large finger choil lets you choke up on the blade for finer work. A thumb hole opens it one-handed, a sturdy frame lock holds it secure, and textured G-10 handle scales keep their grip in wet or cold hands. At 21.6 cm (8.5 in) overall and 153 g, it rides discreetly on its low-profile pocket clip. A practical working folder for camp kitchen duties, the larder and jobs around the estate; as a locking knife it requires good reason to carry in public in the UK and is sold to over-18s only. Backed by Gerber's limited lifetime warranty.
