The H&N Field Target Trophy is the domed pellet a great many UK field target shooters settle on, and this is the 4.50mm head size for rifles with a tighter bore. At 8.64 grains it sits in the middle of the .177 weight range, which is what gives it a flat enough trajectory to hold over sensibly out to the 50 metres H&N rate it to, while still carrying enough energy for medium-range quarry. The domed head is the reason it groups: it is far less sensitive to wind and to small errors in hold than a wadcutter, and the ballistic coefficient of 0.021 keeps it stable downrange. H&N use a special lead alloy and surface lubrication that keeps fouling down, so groups stay consistent through a long session rather than opening up after the first hundred shots. Head size matters more than most shooters expect - if 4.51mm or 4.52mm has never quite grouped in your rifle, the 4.50mm is worth a tin. Minimum 5.5 ft/lbs muzzle energy. Supplied in a tin of 500.
