This is the 5.55mm head size of H&N's .22 Field Target Trophy, the largest of the three they produce and the one to reach for if your barrel is on the generous side and smaller heads have shot loose groups. The pellet itself is unchanged: 14.66 grains, domed, and built for field target competition and medium-range hunting. That weight is what gives .22 its reputation for hitting harder than .177 at sensible range, and the domed profile keeps the trajectory flat enough to be predictable out to the 50 metres H&N rate it to. A ballistic coefficient of 0.019 helps it hold its line when there is a breeze across the ride. H&N's special lead alloy and surface lubrication keep fouling low so the rifle stays consistent through a long session. If you have not sized pellets to your barrel before, buying one tin each of 5.53, 5.54 and 5.55 and shooting them over the same target is the quickest way to find out what your rifle wants.
