The Hornady .224 75gr BTHP Match is a heavy-for-calibre boat-tail hollow-point component bullet designed for precision rifle shooting and long-range competition. At 75 grains, it sits at the heavier end of the .224 diameter range, giving it a higher ballistic coefficient and better resistance to wind drift than lighter .22-calibre projectiles — a significant advantage in 600- and 1,000-yard target work. It is built around Hornady's AMP® (Advanced Manufacturing Process) bullet jacket, a manufacturing advance that produces exceptionally concentric jackets with near-zero runout and minimal wall-thickness variation. That concentricity, combined with a precision swaged lead core, is what underpins the remarkable consistency and accuracy these bullets deliver. The secant ogive profile reduces drag and maximises the ballistic coefficient, while the optimised boattail angle and length — calibrated specifically for this weight — minimises base drag at long range. The hollow-point boat-tail design is standard for match shooting and is not intended as a hunting or expanding bullet. Sold as component bullets for reloading in .224 diameter / 22-calibre cartridges such as 5.56×45mm NATO, .223 Remington, and .22-250 Remington.
